Dear Mr. Rathbun:

I represent Tom Cruise. Apparently you have repeatedly announced to the public that you were Tom’s “auditor” at the Church of Scientology, and you have used that announcement, including Tom’s name, on your website to promote your business or profession.

This is not only a serious invasion of Tom’s privacy and a violation of the priest-penitent relationship, it is the unauthorized use of Tom’s name to promote a business or professional venture, which is a clear violation of Tom’s common law and statutory rights.

Just imagine a Catholic Priest leaving the Church and then trying to drum up business as a lay-therapist by advertising that he had been Frank Sinatra’s confessor. Most people would consider that disgusting and reprehensible. Yet, what you are doing is exactly the same.

It just shouldn’t be done Mr. Rathbun. So please stop.

Sincerely,

Bertram Fields

  1. You’re kidding right….Marty?

Wow talk about hypocrisy mixed with irony.

Davey turns over your “Confidential Confessional Formulary” to the SP Times with very little compunction, yet when his cat’s paw finds his name being use on your bog it’s “disgusting and reprehensible”.

I think “disgusting and reprehensible” should be the name of the law firm that filed this letter.

  2. Well, that’s interesting. I’d say the Tone Arm is moving on the process. Very interesting indeed. The mistaken A=A on the priest is quite a touch, especially the Sinatra thing. I wonder if that means TC is also a ‘Chairman of the Board’.

  3. I’m not sure the analogy works.

“I’m for decency — period. I’m for anything and everything that bodes love and consideration for my fellow man. But when lip service to some mysterious deity permits bestiality on Wednesday and absolution on Sunday — cash me out.”

    Frank Sinatra

  4. Seems Frank was a better COB. Maybe that’s why the vampires are attempting to suck his life force.

  5. I bet the thought of Tom talking to you keeps DM up at night.

  6. Hang onto that letter, it might be worth money some day, lol

  7. Jesus H. Christ! I wonder what TC would think if he knew what was going on during his sessions from Ray at CC Int in early 1996. Bert might be writing another letter to another high ranking Scientologist if he knew. Basically, that letter from Bertram pissed me off.

  8. They stopped short of threatening legal action. Usually that always comes into the equation…

Oooooh, right. That would cost money. Something that the church doesn’t have very much of recently.

  11. I wonder what Tom Cruise would think if he really saw what goes on in the group to staff or not. The staff are not going to let him see anything, or people on the RPF, or what happens to a wife that is upset cause the bills arent paid, and she’s considered an SP – cause the husband is the good guy on staff..making 10.00 a week. Not to mention the changes in the tech. I have often wondered if the reverse in tech is to trap beings, not free them. So, who’s David Miscavage working for? He is obviously psychotic. And sh*t rolls down hill – why are many staff so against a persons civil rights? Screaming and yelling with the F word all the time? I have always known it’s rolling down hill from someone. I have seen it. These staff look like dead zombies. Sounds like those involved have no education in the laws of this country, I cant speak for other countries. But I am sure the same behavior continues in those countries, and they think it’s RIGHT!
Why are so many OT’s and high level auditors are out? Seems the trained ones with some sense, couldnt take it anymore, either leaving or get kicked out on false charges.
